G.A.P stands for Great Adventure People. Their company philosophy is "The freedom of independent travel with the security of a group". The groups are small with most tours having the maximum size of 12 travelers. G.A.P tours are marketed throughout the world so the groups comprise clients from many countries not just Canada and the USA . They use a combination of both local and private transport with the emphasis on interacting with the community rather than just watching it. Accommodation is not luxurious but clean, simple, locally owned hotels. All trips are accompanied by a tour leader who lives and works in the host country. Local specialist guides are used on many treks and excursions. Their tour prices are particularly low and offer excellent value for money.

G.A.P Adventures states that it "has been committed to offering low-impact, environmentally friendly tours that benefit traveller and host alike.  We work with local communities, businesses, and individuals to develop tourism opportunities that help local economies while minimizing negative environmental and cultural impacts."

G.A.P Adventures received the Millennium Ethics In Action Award in recognition of their high standards. By using small scale accommodation, local transportation and through the support of locally owned and operated low impact businesses, they have demonstrated commitment to tour operations that are socially responsible.
