The Amazon Yarapa River Lodge is located in the rainforest of Peru along the banks of the Yarapa River, a pristine tributary of the Amazon.  The lodge is fully furnished with private rooms, private and shared bathrooms, cooking and dining facilities, multilingual nature guides, and a large and expanding nature reserve.

Cornell University has partnered with the owners of the lodge to build an active field laboratory adjacent to the main lodge, giving a unique opportunity for students and professors to study at the source of this diverse ecosystem.  The journal “Emanations” features some of the innovative research done so far at the Cornell University Esbaran Field Station.

The lodge uses earth-friendly resources, including full solar powering, composting, and flush toilets with a waste management system.  They have used local materials and local labor to build the lodge, and continue to nurture a very close relationship with the nearby villages.  They help with medical and transport concerns and also employ local villagers throughout the lodge.  Together, they manage an ever growing nature reserve, actively working with local tribes to one day achieve national park status.
