Long distance buses depart from either the Terminal Terrestre or the smaller Terrapuerto bus terminal, both located on Avenida Andres Avelino Caceres which is about 3 km south of the city center. A taxi from the city center costs around S/.5

Arequipa is 521 km by road from Cusco. You can travel by bus or plane. If travelling overland remember to take plenty of warm clothes with you especially if travelling at night since it can get very cold particularly during the month June, July and August.

There are many daily buses leaving for Cusco. The fastest bus service takes about 10 hours (longer in the wet season). Some companies depart in the morning and arrive in Cusco early in the evening while others depart in the evening and arrive in Cusco early in the morning. Buses depart from the main bus station known as the 'Terminal Terreste' which is a 10 minute taxi ride from the main Plaza de Armas. Don't try to walk. Our best advice is to take a taxi down to the bus station the day before you want to travel and book your ticket. Lima is 1,010km north of Arequipa. Visitors can travel by bus or domestic flight.

Several buses run daily between Arequipa and Lima. The trip takes about 16 hours and costs US$24-50 depending on company and type of service. Companies operating this route are Ormeño and Cruz del Sur. Many buses depart Arequipa in the evening and arrive in Lima early in the morning. This avoids travelling during the hot temperatures of the day and also saves on one night's accommodation. The condition of the road is very good.
Nazca is 623km north of Arequipa.
Several daily buses to Nasca, approximate journey time is 11 hours. Cost depends on company and service but budget for US$10-15. Companies operating this route are Ormeno and Civa.
Puno is 297km from Arequipa. You can travel by bus, train or plane. If travelling overland remember to take plenty of warm clothes with you especially if travelling at night since it can get very cold
There are several daily flights for Juliaca (which is the nearest airport to Puno). When you arrive at Juliaca there will be several buses waiting outside the arrivals lounge to take you on the 45 minute ride to Puno. The flight time is about 45 minutes. There are many daily buses leaving for Puno. The journey takes about 5 hours (longer in the wet season). Price are about US$8-10 depending on the service. Most services depart early evening and arrive in Puno early in the morning.
The train no longer operates between Arequipa and Puno apart from freight traffic and the occasional charter train.
