Photos of the Santa Cruz Trek, Cordillera Blanca, HuarazSanta Cruz trek (3, 4 or 5 days depending on the route)

This is the most popular trek in the Cordillera Blanca due to the incredible mountain scenery including snow-capped peaks, turquoise lakes and beautiful meadows. The 45 km hike is not particularly difficult (rated moderate) so long as you have acclimatized for a few days in Huaraz. The altitude along the trail ranges from 2,900m to 4,750m.

Alpamayo Trek (7-12 days)

The Alpamayo Trek is a more difficult trek than the Santa Cruz trek both because it is much longer as well as including several passes above 4700m and some long ascents. However the northern side of Alpamayo is much less travelled and offers some spectacular views of the Cordillera Blanca.

Olleros to Chavin (3 days)

A relatively easy 3-day trek that winds its way through some wide open valleys, close to glaciers with some great mountain scenery. The high point is arriving at the pre-Inca ruins of Chavin de Huantar.
