Peru Wines, Wines from Peru, Peruvian winesTacama Gran Tinto

With a handsome glistening red colour, this is a perfectly presented wine. Its pleasant bouquet is predominantly fruity and it has good elegance, suggesting the certainty of the pleasure to come. The tannic structure is very soft and silky. It displays unquestionable concentration and a remarkable harmony, with account for a large part of its charm, typical of the red wines produced at Tacama.
Gran Tinto results from blending different varieties originally from the south – western region of France: Malbec, Tannat and Peti Verdot. A light, delicate, wine with harmony, this distinguished, elegant product is perfectly adaptable to light meals.

Tacama (Peru) Gran Tinto 2005
Tacama's Gran Tinto is a 12.5% alcohol blend of Malbec, Tannat and Petit Verdot that pours a deep crimson colour. The nose has copious ripe, black fruit, with plummy depth and a touch of sweet, damp earth and violet. On the palate there's a little lick of firm, liquoricy structure here, with a nicely tart and juicy black cherry acidity, overlaid with much softer blackberry and spicy fruit compote flavours. A nice, easy-drinking wine this with very good balance.

TACAMA Gran Tinto Red wine.
Blend of Malbec, Tannat & Petit Verdot.
A beautiful RED!!!
Aromas of red cherry and berry fruits with smoky herbal notes. Reveals a light and smooth texture, elegant and harmoniously flavourful with hints of spice. The wine is supported by very soft and gentle tannins.

According to the back label, apparently the 2005 Tacama Gran Tinto, made from a blend of Merlot, Petit Verdot and Tannat…A weak and flabby nose, with the odour of mouldy blackberries and crushed tobacco. It isn’t unpleasant, but then, it’s not very good either: tight and rubbery in the mouth with a burning finish. Certainly different and more exciting than drinking a Chilean Merlot or Argentinean Malbec, but for £8, a better version of either would be available: 7.8.
