Description:
This is a warm and friendly hostal 3 blocks from the Plaza de Armas. The architecture is colonial in style with high domed ceilings in the ground floor rooms. The house is built of 'sillar' a white stone typical of Arequipa. All rooms have private bathrooms with hot water. There's a communal room with cable TV and several patios, a garden and a good cafe. Very clean.

Overall Rating 9/10 (05 June 2008 Matthew Dickenson, UK)
"I wasn't expecting too much but the Casa de Melgar totally amazed us. It is a beautiful colonial-style hotel and soft warm colours are just loveley, it was like being in a monastery. The room was spacious, nice size bathroom, very clean. The staff were friendly and the location is very convenient. We would definitely stay here again "

Overall Rating 8/10 (28 August 2008 Mary Cosby, Sydney, Australia)
"Highly recommended and excellent value for money. The rooms are all on the ground floor around a small patio with a tree growing in the centre. Its a very relaxing place to stay. The rooms were big and tastefully decorated with antique-style furniture. I loved this place, I wish I could have stayed longer. Helpful staff and close to all the major attractions.
