Description:

Located 4 blocks from the Plaza de Armas (main square) Hostal Casa La Reyna is one of the most popular budget hostals in Arequipa. Making a reservation is therefore recommended. La Reyna is a colonial style house with a great rooftop sun terrace where you can sip a cool beer and trade travel stories with backpackers from all over the world. The rooms are basic but clean. There's plenty of hot water in the communal bathrooms and a small cafeteria serving up a good selection of snacks. The owner is helpful and knowledgeable about things to do in Arequipa and can arrange tours to the Colca Canyon. Can be a bit noisy at night.

Overall Rating 7/10 (03 April 2008 Charlotte Manning USA)

"Simple but comfortable accommodation. The staff didn't speak any English but we all seemed to get on OK by smiling and waving our hands a lot! Hostal located 5 minutes walk from the Plaza de Armas and is right next to the Santa Catalina Monastery so it couldn't have been more convenient. It can get a bit noisy at night with street traffic but if you live in a big city like myself you won't find this too much of a problem. Paid US$10 for a room with a double bed (matrimonio)"
