Description:
Backpackers hostal situated 2 blocks from the main square on the Cuesta de San Blas which is a narrow road leading up the the artists district of San Blas. The hostal has either shared or private bathroom depending on your budget and a small garden and patio. The hostal is fairly small and constructed in Colonial architecture. The rooms in the first courtyard are older and have more character while those at the back are newer but less interesting. They also have a second hotel Amaru Hostal II which is often offered when the first hostal is full. The rates are the same but Amaru Hostal II isn't nearly as nice and the location isn't as convenient or as safe.

"Amaru Hostal was a fantastic place to stay. It is quiet and incredibly clean. The courtyards are perfect for relaxing in the sunlight or looking up at the night sky. The rooms are clean, include tvs and hot water and have comfortable beds. The staff was helpful and internet is free. The location is great too. Don't miss out on Granja Heidi, a fantastic restaurant a few doors down. I highly recommend this affordable hostal."

"A real find, only a couple of minutes walk from the main square. The staff were very helpful and knowledgeable. If you are travelling on your own you'll soon meet up with others in this hostal as there are many communal areas with a TV. My room was a bit small but it was clean and comfortable. I can also recommend a great restaurant between the hostal and the main square called A Mi Manera run by Nicole from Switzerland. I'll be back"
