Overall Rating 9/10 (15 June 2008, Kathryn Pernet, Australia)

"When we arrived in Cusco we headed straight for the Sacred Valley to allow us time to acclimatize. I found Las Chullpas recommended on the Andean Travel Web website. It is located in a small forest on the outskirts of Urubamba. I have to admit that our taxi driver had a few problems finding the place so I would recommend that you make a note of how to get there before you arrive!! The room was basic but beautiful and with plenty of character. All the rooms have a wood burning fireplace so you can cozy up to a real fire in the evenings. The owner Gonzalo was always very helpful and full of good advice about exploring the Sacred Valley. Leonie who also lives there is a midwife and well-known herbal doctor. Many of her nayural medicines are grown in the surrounding gardens. The vegetarian food on offer was excellent, Las Chullpas is the perfect place to relax in beautiful surroundings, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anybody. Hint: remember to take some insect repellent for in the evenings."
