Description:

La Casona de Yucay is a lovely colonial house that has been converted into a hotel. The 20 rooms are large with high ceilings and set around a traditional stone courtyard. there are extensive flower-filled gardens and great views of the surrounding mountains. The house was built in 1810. Simon Bolivar, Peru's great liberator, stayed here in 1825 (room 136). In fact, if you book well in advance, you can even stay in the very room.  Until recently the property was owned by Sonesta, who know run the larger Posada del Inca across the road.
