There are no buses to Iquitos so the only sensible way of getting there is by air.

Iquitos Airport

Officially known as Coronel FAP Francisco Secada Vignetta International Airport, Iquitos airport is situated about 6km out of town. It's a busy little airport with regular flights mainly to and from Lima but also to Pulcallpa & Tarapoto. There are no international passenger flights, just the occassional international cargo flight.

Flight time Lima to Iquitos 1 hour 50 minutes.

LATAM Airlines (formerly known as LAN Airlines) - around 9 flights per day each way Lima to Iquitos or LATAM Airlines (formerly LAN Airlines) is an airline based in Santiago, Chile. As the principal Chilean airline, it is also Chile's flag carrier. LATAM is the largest airline in Latin America, with flights to Latin America, United States, Canada, the Caribbean, Oceania, and Europe. It is a member of the One World Airline Alliance (together with American Airlines, British Airways, Iberia & Quantas amongst others) so it should be possible to purchase domestic flights through your local travel agent when booking your international flight. Their web site also allows online reservations and secure payments. Domestic flights between the following major cities in Peru: Lima - Cusco (more than 20 flights per day each way), Lima - Arequipa AQP (6 flights per day each way), Arequipa - Juliaca, Lake Titicaca (4 flights per day each way), Cusco - Puerto Maldonado (2 flights per day each way). Other cities serviced by LAN include Chiclayo, Iquitos, Pucallpa, Piura, Tacna & Trujillo.

Avianca - 1 flight per day to Iquitos Avianca is the national airline and flag carrier of Colombia. It is alos the world's second oldest airline after KLM and celebrated its 90th anniversary in 2009 when it mergerd with TACA. It is a member of the Star Alliance and has a codeshare agreement with United Airlines.

Peruvian Airlines ( 2 flights each day to Iquitos) Peruvian Airlines is, not surprisingly, an airline based in Peru. It was founded in 2007 and commenced operations in October 2008. It has a fleet of 12 aircraft all Boeing 737s.

Starperu (No direct flights, 2 flights each day via Pucallpa or Tarapoto) StarPeru is a Peruvian airline. It started operating scheduled domestic flights in 2005. It now has a fleet of 10 aircraft mainly BAe 146.
Lima - Cusco (3 flights per day each way), Other cities serviced by Starperu include Tarapoto, Pucallpa, Iquitos, Cajamarca, Puerto Maldonado, Talara & Ayacucho.
