Tacama Seleccion
Especial (red)
Tacama’s pride. Its particularly seductive robe of dense red with striking
purple reflections expresses its high concentration. Extraordinarily intense and
complex bouquet. It evokes fruits, plums, liquorice, with predominance of
perfectly ripened grapes; and it has peppery notes that enhance its richness and
brilliance. A tasting of Seleccion special is unforgettable. Its strength and
concentration are worthy of the best wines. At the same time its balance is
perfect.
The tannins are well - wrapped and not at all aggressive. With its long aromatic
finish, this wine is a huge success.
It is made from the varieties of Tannat, native of the southwest of France, and
Petit Verdot from the Medoc. Tacama selected these varieties fro their
adaptability to the sunny climate of Ica, where the Petit verdot achieves an
excellent degree of maturity.

Tacama
(Peru) Seleccion Especial 2004
Seleccion Especial is one of Tacama's top wines, a blend of Tannat and Petit
Verdot, with what smells like a touch of high quality older French oak. This
deep, crimson red wine has a lovely nose, with a gentle cedar and smoke quality
set against plenty of creamy, ripe, raspberry and blackcurrant fruit. There's a
nice, kirsch-like element of brightness here, and also a suggestion of
minerality in a really quite complex profile. The palate has a lovely fruit
quality, with more of that ripe, creamy berry character and a nicely spicy, firm
oaky, tannic background. This has very good acidity too, adding a crispness and
poise into the finish. This is a well-mannered wine which some may find lacks a
little mid-palate weight and depth, but it is beautifully composed and quite
long and elegant.

TACAMA
Seleccion Especial Red wine.
Blend of Tannat & Petit Verdot. Magnificent purple tones denote great
concentration.
Intense and complex on the nose, this gorgeous wine conveys aromas and flavours
of black cherry fruit with light earthy notes. Exotic, yet elegant and well
balanced, it is well supported by gentle tannins and a round texture.

2002 Tacama ‘Seleccion Especial’ Ica Valley
Peru
Made from the Petit Verdot and Tannat grapes this wine is a solid, deep fruit
driven wine. Dark burgundy red in color. The bouquet is slightly gamy with
raspberry, black plum, and musk. Deep fruit flavors of black raspberry,
pomegranate, and dark red fruit. Dry, Medium to full bodied, with some hard,
mouth puckering tannins that don’t surprise me considering the grapes used. The
tannins work well with the bright grapey fruit, like those found in a Cote du
Rhone wine. The finish is dry with good fruit and a touch of spice. This wine is
most akin to one from the southern Rhone.
